Thailand officially announced the process and content of the ceasefire agreement! The agreement does not involve territorial issues!

At 10:20 p.m. on July 28, Balamkula, Director of the Department of Information and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, announced that the Acting Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Puththai, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen held a meeting in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

In addition to Thailand and Cambodia, the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur and China also attended the meeting.

The result of the meeting was that both Thailand and Cambodia agreed to immediately cease fire before midnight on February 28, which is an important first step in easing tensions, restoring peace and security.

The Thai side attended the meeting to express Thailand's position on the situation at the border between Thailand and Cambodia. We discussed events that have occurred over the past period, including incursions into the border, deaths of soldiers and civilians, the suffering of the border people, landmine incidents, provocative threats. It is important that we emphasize these events will not happen again, while Thailand is sincerely prepared to cooperate with all parties.

Balamkula said that the atmosphere of the talks was good, and the discussions were open and honest. However, this meeting was only about ceasefire negotiations, and no discussion was made on boundary issues, so it would not lead to Thailand losing its borders. In addition, Thailand considered the safety of the people in the border areas, which is also important to the Cambodian people. The ceasefire will allow the Cambodian people to return to normal life without threats or conflicts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that the ceasefire agreement reached between Thailand and Cambodia is a preliminary success for both sides, and the first step towards bringing peace and security to the border. Malaysia will act as a coordinator to observe the ceasefire and hold talks with ASEAN member states.

The two countries will return to three levels of direct negotiations: first, the two prime ministers; second, the foreign ministers of the two countries; third, the defense ministers of the two countries to resume dialogue and coordination.

The results of the meeting include:

1. A ceasefire agreement was reached for the safety of people's lives and property;

2. Restore bilateral framework negotiations. The meeting on the morning of July 29 is the beginning of the negotiations, bilateral is the position that Thailand has always required. Next are the total boundary commission meeting on August 4 and the joint boundary commission meeting in September;

3. Witnesses come to inspect and confirm the implementation of the ceasefire agreement. Thailand has always required to see the sincerity of Cambodia. After that, we will have observers to help Thailand further ensure it.

4. People temporarily living in shelters can go home and resume normal life.
