U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States would not allow Greenland to become dependent on China.
Rubio said, "We will not allow China to get involved. For example, give Greenland a lot of money so that Greenland becomes dependent on China."
In March this year, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Greenland would be "somehow" under American control, and promised that if it were incorporated into the United States, they would gain wealth.
By 1953, Greenland had been a Danish colony. It is still part of Denmark today, but it gained autonomy in 2009 and can make autonomous choices on domestic issues.
