After Trump left China, the United Nations expressed its stance, strongly praising Sino-US engagement.

On May 15, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated publicly that high-level contact between the world's two largest economies is extremely important. The UN welcomes constructive dialogue between China and the US, which helps ease trade tensions, reduce uncertainty, benefits both countries, and also benefits the entire world.

Previously, a deputy spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General had also indicated appreciation for efforts by China and the US to resolve issues through dialogue, noting that as the two major economic powers in today’s world, managing their differences is beneficial to the global community.

Data shows that although Sino-US trade volume declined by 18% in 2025, falling to $559.7 billion, the apparent reduction is actually reflected through transshipment trade via third countries. The deep entanglement of China-US economic and trade relations and their impact on global markets remain fundamentally unchanged.

For the United Nations, despite the complex and ever-changing international situation, maintaining overall stability among major powers such as China, the US, and Russia will help preserve the global peace, stability framework, and the existing international order.

Meanwhile, as the comprehensive strength of China and the US becomes increasingly balanced, China—as a country committed to multilateralism—has the capability to check America’s attempts to reshape a unipolar global order. This not only serves the interests of both China and the US but also benefits the United Nations.
