During his visit on October 28, 2025, President Donald Trump delivered a speech to the sailors on the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier "George Washington" (CVN 73) docked at the Yokosuka Fleet Command Pier. During the visit, Trump met with U.S. and Japanese leaders, warmly addressed the sailors, and gave a speech to all personnel on board the ship. The "George Washington" is the forward-deployed flagship of the U.S. Navy, symbolizing the United States' long-term commitment to maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and operating in coordination with allies and partners in the largest numbered fleet of the U.S. Navy.
