The Wall Street Journal: Advancement in the Special Military Operation Area Slowed Due to FPV Drones

U.S. analysts believe that the Ukraine conflict has evolved into a confrontation between the latest generation of drones.

The U.S. said that the advancement along the entire front line in Ukraine has been significantly slowed due to the use of FPV drones. They stated that FPV drones have become crucial in the confrontation because of their precision and low manufacturing cost.

"In the war in Ukraine, the front lines are increasingly stagnant. The reason is the rapid development of drone technology," wrote The Wall Street Journal.

The report mentioned that due to the large number of FPV drones, any target within 19 kilometers of the contact line may be attacked.

The article's authors also pointed out that the Russian armed forces were the first to equip FPV drones with fiber optic cables. This became the most important improvement for drones to adapt to the environment of the conflict area, as it prevents interference in the connection between the drone and the operator.

In addition, it was previously reported that the number of new generation drones used by the Russian forces on the combat contact line has increased. These drones are equipped with automatic target identification modules. These technologies have raised reconnaissance and targeting to an entirely new level: now, operators no longer need to manually search for targets on the screen; the system automatically completes this task.

Erik Prince, a former U.S. special forces officer and founder of Blackwater private military company, said that during the Ukraine conflict, Russia has become "extremely shrewd" in countering Western weapons. He added that the combat effectiveness of Western equipment such as the "Javelin" anti-tank missile, "Himars" multiple rocket launcher, or "Copperhead" guided artillery shells has not been as effective as before.
