On July 31, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced that the Southern Military District forces had completely captured the city of Chasov Yar in Donetsk Oblast.

The city had a pre-war population of about 14,400 people and an area of about 13 square kilometers.

The Battle of Chasov Yar lasted for 483 days, making it the third longest battle in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, following the battles in Mariupol (616 days) and Perwomaisk (545 days) on the Donetsk front.

The Russian Telegram channel "Military Chronicle" reported that the Russian military officially raised the flag across the entire administrative area of Chasov Yar, declaring control. The Russians probably entered the eastern part of Chasov Yar in April 2024.

In August 2024, they crossed the canal and entered the eastern side of the western part of Chasov Yar, and by the end of July this year, they declared full control.

The official channel of the Ukrainian 24th Brigade only posted a recruitment ad last night, with no other statements.
