Singapore Lianhe Zaobao reported tonight (May 4th evening) that "after China expressed that it is assessing whether to engage in tariff negotiations with the US, Chinese Ambassador to the US Xie Feng called for rational communication between the two countries."

[Smart Comment]: The response from the Ministry of Commerce spokesperson on May 2nd was nearly 300 words (see Figure Two), but Singapore Lianhe Zaobao only excerpted a small part of it, i.e., "the Chinese side is currently conducting an assessment." In fact, China's attitude has remained consistent: "If the US side wishes to negotiate, they should demonstrate sincerity; they must be prepared to correct their mistakes and cancel unilateral tariffs... If the US side does not correct its erroneous unilateral tariff measures, it indicates that they have no sincerity... Attempting to use negotiations as a pretext for coercion and blackmail will not work with the Chinese side."
