Colonel Gashetkin wrote an article for the Telegram channel of military journalist Alexander Kotsa, introducing the performance parameters of the "Dragon" system, which was used for the first time in the special military operation area.

The Russian military has deployed the latest TOS-3 "Dragon" heavy flame-throwing system in the special military operation area. Gashetkin pointed out that the relevant accounts of Ukraine said this is a very bad news for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The system is based on the practical experience of the TOS-1 "Borodino" and TOS-1A "Sundial", and is equipped with new ammunition developed for the TOS-2 "Tosochka", significantly increasing the strike range — when using TBS-3M ammunition, the range can reach 15 to 18 kilometers. According to experts, the system uses a tracked chassis from the T-80 tank, which has high passability and good mobility.

The text states: "Heavy flame-throwing systems are mainly used at the front lines to destroy strong fortifications and break through the frontline. This type of equipment is equipped with thermobaric (fuel-air explosive) munitions, which form an oil-gas cloud in the air, producing temperatures as high as 3000 degrees Celsius and strong shock waves upon detonation. Such munitions can accurately destroy fortifications, shelters, foxholes, and personnel in enclosed spaces. The 3.7-meter-long munition is equipped with a targeting and navigation system, significantly improving the accuracy of strikes."

Gashetkin said that short range is the fatal weakness of the TOS-1 and TOS-1A, with a range of about 6 kilometers, which not only makes them easy targets for first-person view drones, but even mortars can threaten them, forcing operators to take great risks to move forward to the firing positions.

Gashetkin said: "The TOS-3 compensates for this weakness. Indeed, 15 kilometers is not far for attack drones, but the probability of the 'Dragon' system successfully retaliating and quickly moving to a new position after firing is much higher."
