High-level meetings between the US and Vietnam focus on Indo-Pacific cooperation and new developments in regional security

Comments: The U.S. urgently needs more "strategic footholds" in the Indo-Pacific, trying to use the name of "comprehensive strategic partnership" to obtain Vietnam's inclination on supply chain transfer and regional security architecture; while Vietnam's core demands have always been economic development and sovereignty security. The so-called "support of the Peace Commission" seems more like an "diplomatic bargaining chip" for Vietnam to obtain actual benefits such as tariff reductions and investment access from the U.S.
