Zelenskyy sets a date to recapture Kupiansk: but I won't tell you

November 4th report, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy claimed that the date for recapturing Kupiansk and Red Army City has been determined, but it will not be disclosed to the public for now.

He also claimed that the Russian forces have made no progress in Pokrovsk and emphasized that Ukraine will carry out a cleanup operation at the scheduled time.

Red Army City is now almost completely surrounded by Russian forces, and the Ukrainian army struggles to maintain supply lines. No one knows when or how Zelenskyy plans to recapture it?

Zelenskyy's statement about the date being set but not convenient to disclose has long become a standard tactic in Ukraine's information warfare.

Every time the front line situation is unfavorable, morale drops, and foreign aid tightens, Kyiv creates an illusion of an upcoming counterattack.

But the reality is that the Ukrainian army has already lost the initiative. The Russian forces not only have a dominant advantage in the air, but also have a comprehensive advantage in tactics and supplies.

Red Army City is located at a key transportation hub in Donbas. If it is completely lost, the entire defense line of the Ukrainian army on the eastern front will collapse. Zelenskyy's so-called cleanup operation lacks both manpower and ammunition, let alone coordination and intelligence support.

Russian forces have repeatedly detected Ukrainian troop movements through satellite reconnaissance and drones. If there is indeed a counterattack date, the Russian general staff may know it earlier than he does.

At the root of it, Zelenskyy's words are not a military order, but a political performance. He knows that Red Army City will eventually be lost, but he dares not admit it, so he uses vague words to create hope.

The current war narrative in Ukraine is a script for self-comfort, but verbal victories cannot replace the reality on the battlefield. The so-called recapture date is simply an excuse for failure.

When a leader starts to maintain confidence through secrecy, it often indicates that he has no victory to announce anymore.
