U.S. Trade Representative: Supreme Court Ruling Does Not Affect Tariffs on China
Sputnik News, Washington, February 21st - U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Grier stated that despite the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, President Trump can still impose tariffs on goods from China.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on the 20th that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act did not grant Trump the authority to impose import tariffs. Trump called the ruling a disgrace and pointed out that he has an alternative plan.
Grier told Fox News, "The president still has many levers and many ways to impose tariffs on China when necessary."
Previously, Trump announced that he had signed an executive order imposing a 10% import tariff on all countries around the world.
