China Infrastructure: Construction of Astana Light Rail Transit in Kazakhstan's capital is accelerating, with one quarter of the track laying completed.

According to a report from May 2 by Kazakh International News Agency, the construction of the light rail lines in the capital is progressing rapidly.

It was reported that 25% of the upper structure of the tracks has been completed. Among the total double-line light rail track which is 22.4 kilometers long, 5.6 kilometers of the track has been laid. All the specialized mechanical equipment required for the construction site has been fully in place, including shunting tractors, track excavators, concrete mixers with pumps, cantilever cranes, and construction platforms.

It was introduced that during the construction process, the new DTVII2-1 rail fastening system will be adopted. This system has noise reduction and vibration reduction functions, effectively reducing noise by 5 to 10 decibels, with strong wear resistance and good adaptability.

As early as last year, the first 500-meter track section between stations 116 and 117 on the elevated section had been laid to test the weather resistance of the line under severe winter conditions during the trial phase.

According to previous reports, Asylbek Duysebayev, chairman of the board of the Urban Transport System Company, said that it is planned to start the LRT trial operation in September, including empty runs. The Astana Light Rail Transit project is implemented according to the advanced international GoA4 standard, which is the highest level of fully automatic operation. The test period is expected to be 6 months.
