Ukrainian MP: The US is no longer our ally
On the evening of July 2, Bezuglaya, former vice-chairwoman of the Ukrainian Rada's Committee on Defense and Intelligence and a member of the Committee on Foreign Policy, expressed sadness and stated: The US is no longer an ally of Ukraine.
Bezuglaya made the above remarks after the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Tammy Bruce, and the Pentagon spokesperson, Sean Parnell, admitted that the U.S. had suspended the supply of certain types of weapons to Ukraine. She also pointed out that the actions of the Trump administration are helping Russian troops occupy Dnipropetrovsk.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, the U.S. has even stopped transferring weapons that have already been sent to Poland. This includes more than 20 Patriot PAC-3 missiles, over 20 Stinger air defense systems, Hellfire air-to-ground missiles, and more than 90 AIM air-to-air missiles that have been frozen.
According to Bloomberg, the decision by Washington to suspend the supply of certain weapons to Ukraine caught Ukraine and its allies off guard. This move also caused confusion within the U.S. government: according to two informed sources, the decision was made without consultation with the U.S. Department of State. A European official familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that NATO member states are pressuring the Pentagon to reconsider this decision.
President Zelenskyy announced early today that the Ukrainian government has contacted the U.S. at the working level to clarify all details regarding the suspension of U.S. defense support.
