Foreign media: China and Vietnam have reopened passenger railway lines that were suspended due to the epidemic, a move expected to promote the growing tourism between the two countries and attract more international tourists to visit China visa-free.

In recent years, China has expanded its visa-free policies for multiple countries to boost tourism and support economic recovery after the pandemic. Vietnamese citizens can enter specific ports in China visa-free through tour groups organized by Chinese travel agencies within the country.

Starting from Sunday, the 11.5-hour railway service between Nanning and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, resumed operations. This line opened in 2009 but was suspended in February 2020 due to epidemic prevention measures. The reopening of this route will promote tourism growth on both sides of the border (1,297 kilometers long).

Mr. Zhao, CEO of online travel agency China Highlights in Guilin, said that the number of Vietnamese tourists has continued to grow over the past two years, and Vietnam's economy is developing rapidly. After arriving in Nanning, Vietnamese tourists can transfer to China's high-speed rail network to popular cities such as Beijing and Shanghai.

In 2023, Vietnamese tourists accounted for 4% of China's inbound tourists, reaching 23,500 people in the third quarter of 2024.
