Starlink Signs Formal Agreement with Kazakhstan
The deployment plan for satellite terminals within Kazakhstan is set to commence in the third quarter of this year.
The Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan has begun cooperation with Starlink, a subsidiary project of Elon Musk's SpaceX.
According to the agreement, Starlink will officially launch the sale of satellite terminals in the Kazakhstan market. The implementation of the new technology is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
According to Minister Zaslan Matiev of the Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan, there are many areas in the country that are difficult to access, including remote pastures, mountain settlements, and inland enterprises. These places also have residents who need quality network connections, which the new technology can meet.
The minister pointed out that previous cooperation with Starlink was limited to pilot mode, where only schools in the country could use high-quality internet, while ordinary people could not enjoy this privilege.
The minister stated that the current situation has changed: "Starlink agrees to comply with all legal requirements in our country regarding information security and communication." This means that by 2025, citizens of Kazakhstan will be able to legally use satellite internet.
Satellite terminals will be available to individuals, legal entities, and state agencies. Minister Matiev emphasized that these terminals can be effectively applied in various economic sectors such as agriculture, industry, and mineral development.
