On May 1st, the website of Ta Kung Pao published a commentary article titled "Stubbornness Will Surely Lead to Bitter Consequences" regarding the ports transaction involving CK Hutchison. The full text is as follows:

The events surrounding CK Hutchison's sale of its port assets have drawn strong concern and serious warnings from both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Administration for Market Regulation. However, CK Hutchison has turned a deaf ear to these warnings and remains obstinate. If it insists on continuing down this path, it will inevitably suffer severe consequences.

After the relevant transactions were exposed in early March, both the government and the public expressed their strong concerns and criticisms, pointing out that the transaction poses a serious threat to national security and interests. However, the related enterprises have simultaneously used public relations tactics to create confusion while continuing to push forward with deals involving American parties, completely disregarding national security and major interests.

The stance of the central government has been consistently clear. On April 27th, the State Administration for Market Regulation reiterated its position on the transaction, stating that "all parties involved must not take any measures to evade review; the transaction must not be implemented before approval is granted, or legal responsibility will be incurred." On April 28th, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed high concern over the relevant transactions, urging all parties to proceed cautiously.

The concentrated statements from two major state departments, along with the clear directive of "two prohibitions," represent an unprecedented serious warning. The message is crystal clear! At this critical time, the tariff war initiated by the United States aims to strangle China's development comprehensively. In a sense, China and the U.S. are in a life-or-death "war state," with the U.S. being China's biggest enemy. "It is not just about our 'taxes,' but our very 'lives'." Under such critical circumstances, handing over strategic resources to American financial groups is tantamount to aiding the enemy and betrayal. Looking back at history and the world, no place would tolerate such behavior! If CK Hutchison persists in stubbornly proceeding down this path without changing course, it will face extremely severe consequences. In fact, there are more applicable laws than just the Anti-Monopoly Law; when necessary, laws concerning national security can also be applied.

Xia Baolong, Director of the Office for Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of the Central Committee and the State Council, recently pointed out: "In matters of great right and wrong, standing firmly with the country and resolutely on the side of historical correctness is the spirit and integrity that Chinese people should possess. If someone betrays national interests and cheers for the enemy at a critical moment, Hong Kong compatriots and all Chinese people will not accept it, and they will surely bear the historical blame."

CK Hutchison needs to make a wise choice.
