The AI race is essentially a power race
The rapid expansion of AI applications has directly translated into an unprecedented demand for electricity. These centers consume a lot of energy; the consumption of one center is equivalent to that of 100,000 households for a year.
There are currently more than 250 data center projects under construction in the United States, and the AI race is essentially a power race.
These large projects further strain the already challenged power grid, as the grid was not designed to meet this growing and fluctuating demand, which is expected to increase by 15% annually, putting significant pressure on the grid.
The increase in demand, combined with weak infrastructure and crowded high-voltage networks, could lead to fierce energy struggles among different sectors, threaten the stability of the national power grid, and result in frequent power outages and rising energy prices.
If current policies remain unchanged, this could bring the world's major energy crisis countries closer to developing countries in the future.
