Cambodia's Foreign Ministry: Cambodia and Thailand will sign a peace agreement in the presence of Trump
The "Khmer Times" reported that Cambodia's Foreign Minister Brhakun, following a four-way meeting between Cambodia, Thailand, the United States, and Malaysia held in Kuala Lumpur, stated that Cambodia and Thailand will sign a peace agreement at the ASEAN Summit to be held in Kuala Lumpur at the end of October. US President Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the chair of ASEAN for 2025, will attend.
The "Khmer Times" quoted Brhakun as saying: "We have reached an agreement on a document that is expected to be signed by the prime ministers of the two countries at the ASEAN Summit. The signing ceremony will take place in the presence of US President Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who will preside over the meeting."
Conflicts broke out between Thailand and Cambodia in July this year in the border area, and the conflict escalated. Later, under the chairmanship of the Malaysian Prime Minister, Thailand and Cambodia held talks and agreed to "immediate and unconditional" ceasefire, ending the border conflicts that had lasted for several days. However, there have been occasional friction along the border between the two countries since then.
