US Media: Netanyahu Skeptical of Negotiations with Iran, Aiming to Restart War
Axios, a U.S. news website, quoted sources reporting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu holds extreme skepticism toward negotiations with Iran and desires to resume military action.
According to the website, U.S. President Donald Trump discussed attempts to reach a new agreement with Iran during a "difficult call" with Netanyahu on Tuesday. U.S. sources told the portal that Netanyahu was deeply concerned after the conversation.
The site noted: "Netanyahu is highly skeptical about negotiations and wants to restart the war... The two leaders are divided on what should be the next steps."
According to the site's sources, Qatar and Pakistan, with the involvement of other regional mediators, have already prepared a revised peace memorandum aimed at resolving differences between the U.S. and Iran. U.S. sources added that Trump informed Netanyahu that mediators are drafting a "statement of intent" for the U.S. and Iran to sign, formally ending the war and initiating a 30-day negotiation period.
After the U.S. and Israel launched military actions against Iran, U.S. media speculated that Washington had yielded to lobbying from Tel Aviv on this issue. The Washington Post reported that Netanyahu reportedly pushed Trump to provoke conflict with Iran during his visit to the White House.
