Reference News Network, December 14 report - According to AFP, December 13 report, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on December 13 that the United States will respond to Rwanda's "flagrant violation" of the peace agreement it signed with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in Washington.

Rubio posted on the social media platform X: "Rwanda's actions in eastern DRC flagrantly violate the agreement signed in Washington, which was facilitated by President Trump. The United States will take some measures to ensure that the commitments made to the President of the United States are fulfilled."

US Ambassador to the United Nations Michael Waltz also accused Rwanda on December 12, saying that it is leading the region toward "war." Rwanda is believed to be supporting the armed group "March 23 Movement" in eastern DRC.

He stated at a Security Council meeting: "Instead of making progress in the peace process led by President Trump in recent weeks, Rwanda is leading the region toward more instability and war."

Waltz also pointed out that the DRC and Rwanda had just signed a "peace agreement" under Trump's leadership a few days ago, and the United States has deep concerns and growing disappointment about the resurgence of violence.

Waltz said: "For months, Rwanda has deployed many surface-to-air missiles and advanced heavy weapons in northern DRC and South Kivu province to assist the 'March 23 Movement'. We have reliable information indicating that the 'March 23 Movement' and Rwanda have increased the use of suicide drones and artillery, including attacks on Burundi." (Translated by Lu Longjun)
