Reference News Network, August 4 report. According to the Saudi "Al-Arabiya News" daily website, August 2, Pakistan's Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said on August 2 that China's development model is a "source of inspiration" for Pakistan. He made this statement while discussing the new phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The report pointed out that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is the flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative. Launched in 2013, it aims to develop infrastructure and promote connectivity between the Gwadar Port in Pakistan and the Xinjiang region in China.

The report stated that the first phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor focused on power generation and road networks, while the new phase focuses on industrialization, business cooperation, and technological development.

Iqbal is currently in Beijing to promote deeper economic integration and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistan's Associated Press quoted him as saying: "China's development model remains a source of inspiration for Pakistan."

He said: "By learning from China's experience, Pakistan is moving towards building an export-oriented and technology-driven economy."

The report mentioned that Iqbal recalled how the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has transformed from "paper planning into a reality with billions of dollars in investment."

He emphasized that the Pakistani people are "proud of the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Beijing." He also said, "The Pakistan-China friendship remains strong despite changing circumstances."

The minister emphasized that the new phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will prioritize industrial and technological cooperation between the two countries.

He also talked about the "Pakistan Takeoff" plan, a government initiative aimed at promoting economic, social, and institutional stability through people-centered reforms.

He pointed out that the Pakistani government plans to cultivate a workforce that is skilled and capable of meeting the needs of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Iqbal said that enhanced business cooperation between the two countries will help further expand the scope of this corridor and drive Pakistan's industrial growth. (Translated by Liu Xiaoyan)
