One quarter of foreign-invested companies in Russia were founded by Chinese citizens

According to a study commissioned by Sputnik News and conducted by Rusprofile, a Russian verification service for business entities, 23.6% of foreign-invested companies currently operating in Russia have Chinese founders.

Analysts stated: "As of May 13, 2026, over 15,500 companies registered in Russia have Chinese citizens or Chinese institutions as their founders. Currently, companies with Chinese involvement account for 23.6% of all foreign-founded enterprises."

Since the beginning of this year, more than 1,500 Chinese-owned companies have been registered in Russia.

In most cases, Chinese entrepreneurs are establishing businesses related to wholesale and retail trade, as well as e-commerce.

Analysts also noted that by the end of 2021, over 1,400 companies with Chinese founders had been registered in Russia (more than 1,000 of which are still operational), representing a share of 3.7% among foreign enterprises.
