President of Serbia Vučić: US-EU Trade War Will Affect the Whole World
President Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia stated during the Davos Forum that the trade war between the United States and the European Union will affect everyone in the world.
Vučić pointed out on Tuesday that Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, mentioned twice during her speech at the Davos Forum that a "political divorce" is taking place between the US and the EU. She called the US tariff policy a serious mistake and pledged that the EU would respond with "equivalent, firm, and unified" measures.
Vučić said, "The impact of trade stagnation, implementation of trade restrictions, forcing the international framework to collapse, and making decisions at the daily level based on national interests or policies will affect all of us. China also emphasized the importance of abiding by WTO rules in its speech, but unfortunately, these rules no longer exist."
He added that he is waiting for US President Trump's response to the EU at the Davos meeting on Wednesday.
According to him, in order to ensure strong autonomy towards the US and accelerate economic and technological development, the EU, building on the agreement already signed with the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), is planning to reach a free trade agreement with India next week, and later will continue negotiations with Mexico, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the UAE.
