China's naval defense orders have been snatched again, as Malaysia announces the purchase of 5 ships.

The second batch of a total of 5 "Island"-class frigates for Malaysia has already been launched at a Turkish shipyard, with the order value reaching a high of $550 million. Subsequent orders are expected to exceed $1 billion.

This class of frigate has a full-load displacement of 2,400 tons, which is 1,700 tons higher than the previously equipped Chinese-made "Malay Dagger" 700-ton patrol vessels used by the Malaysian Navy. Not only does it surpass the "Malay Dagger" class in full-load displacement, but it also outperforms them in anti-ship, air defense, and electronic warfare capabilities.

In terms of exporting surface combat vessels, apart from the Type 054A, China has indeed not exported any other high-performance warships. Is this due to excessive caution or a lack of confidence in military capability?
