French Foreign Minister Arrives in Kyiv for Visit, Will Visit Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant

The French Foreign Minister arrived in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on Monday for a two-day visit aimed at supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia's aggression.

On his X social media platform, French Foreign Minister Barro posted photos of his arrival in Kyiv and said, "Last night, Russia attacked four areas of Kyiv. Metro stations, shops, kindergartens, and preschools were all hit by the deadly violence of the Kremlin."

He assured that, "As Europeans, we will continue to exert greater pressure on Vladimir Putin."

According to AFP from Kyiv, the French Foreign Minister will meet with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kyslytsya, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, and Ukraine's new Prime Minister Syvrydenko in Kyiv.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement: "After France and the EU imposed a new round of large-scale sanctions on the Russian regime, the French Foreign Minister will provide a progress report on France's support for Ukraine."

Last Friday, the EU implemented a new round of sanctions against Russia's war in Ukraine, which specifically included lowering the price cap on Russian oil exports to third countries by 15% below market value.

According to AFP, due to Russia's frequent attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which pose a threat to the security of Ukraine and the European continent, the French Foreign Minister's visit will include a trip to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

France has contributed to the repair of the "safety dome" of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was damaged by a Russian drone in February this year, although the attack did not cause radioactive material leakage.

French Foreign Minister Barro arrived in Kyiv on Monday shortly after the air raid alert was lifted in Kyiv. The previous night, a new wave of Russian attacks in the capital of Ukraine resulted in at least one death.

According to local Ukrainian authorities, Russian forces attacked four areas of Kyiv last night, resulting in at least one death and two injuries, and a fire also broke out at a local kindergarten.
