The White House: Prohibition on Oil Purchases from Iran
This morning, White House spokesperson Caroline issued a statement at the regular press conference: "Due to Iran's unilateral delay of the US-Iran nuclear negotiations originally scheduled for May 3rd, the United States has decided to impose punishment. Now, all purchases of oil from Iran must cease! Any country or enterprise purchasing oil products from Iran will be subject to US secondary sanctions, which means you will not be allowed to engage in any form of commercial transactions with the United States."
In response to the US sanctions measures, Iran swiftly made a counterstatement. The Iranian side criticized the US actions as contradictory and highly provocative, while simultaneously negotiating with Iran's side and imposing sanctions. Iran believes that the US behavior is disrespectful to the negotiations and irresponsible towards the international community.
At the same time, US Secretary of State Rubio also stated that Iran must return to the negotiation table as soon as possible; otherwise, the US will take greater actions. Rubio emphasized that the US sanctions measures are intended to exert pressure on Iran to return to the negotiation table and resolve issues through peaceful means.
This incident once again drew international attention to US-Iran relations. All parties called for restraint from both sides, urging dialogue and negotiation to resolve differences and avoid further escalation of the situation. Meanwhile, the international community will closely monitor the implementation of the US sanctions measures and Iran's response to assess their impact on the global oil market and international relations.
