According to a message from the Chinese Consulate General in Vladivostok on the 28th, the Chinese cargo ship "Anyang-2" that ran aground near Sakhalin Island in Russia will attempt to refloat at an appropriate time in August.

According to the consulate general, based on relevant provisions of the Russian Maritime Code, the company owning the "Anyang-2" submitted its plan for refloating to the Russian State Supervision of Natural Resources Use and the Sakhalin region in May this year. The relevant Russian authorities have now reached an agreement on the refloating plan. In the next step, the company plans to carry out the refloating work of the cargo ship when the weather is suitable in August.

On the early morning of February 9, the Chinese cargo ship "Anyang-2" ran aground near the port of Nevelsk in Sakhalin Oblast after encountering a strong storm. There were 20 Chinese crew members on board, carrying about 50 tons of diesel and 700 tons of heavy fuel oil. On February 14, the Governor of Sakhalin Oblast, Limarenko, stated that the grounded Chinese cargo ship did not cause pollution of the surrounding sea waters. In late March, Chinese relevant departments dispatched a working group to the capital of Sakhalin Oblast, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, to negotiate with local Russian authorities and rescue agencies regarding the rescue of the Chinese cargo ship. In mid to late May, 200 tons of fuel oil were unloaded from the ship and stored in a warehouse on the shore. Five Chinese crew members returned to China in the same month.
