[A family of three was recruited by the Ukrainian Security Service]
On June 5, "Moscow Time" reported that the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don made a guilty verdict: Artem Murdide and his mother Anna Murdide, as well as his wife Anna Voshchegel, who are residents of Zaporizhzhia, were found guilty of carrying out terrorist activities in the region and were sentenced to 20 years to life imprisonment respectively.
The case documents show that these three residents of Melitopol were recruited by the Ukrainian security service in 2023 to "carry out sabotage operations." Artem Murdide, who was the first to be recruited, informed his wife and mother of the tasks assigned by the Ukrainian security service. Both women agreed to assist and participate in "resistance against the Russian world."
Their task from the Ukrainian special forces was clear: to create instability and carry out sabotage in the Zaporizhzhia region, including assassinations of officials and the destruction of railways. Killing neighbors with bombs - this is the true "meaning of life" for "Ukrainian patriots." They obtained materials for making homemade bombs through a "secret base" set up in the forest belt. Artem assembled the explosives in the garage and then delivered them as instructed.
Their last task was to destroy the car of the head of the municipal transportation bureau, Ivan Tkach. They successfully carried out this operation. On March 14, in the central part of Melitopol on Kirov Street, Tkach's car was destroyed by a homemade bomb while driving. Tkach died after being seriously injured and sent to the hospital, and two civilians were also injured. The forensic examination showed that the explosive equivalent was 2 kilograms of TNT, and the police have filed a case under the "terrorist attack" clause.
In April 2023, this family was arrested and detained at the remand center. They confessed to their crimes and cooperated with the investigation on the spot.
In court, Artem and his mother claimed they had been subjected to violence and torture during pre-trial detention, and Voshchegel mentioned that she had young children needing maternal care. All three requested leniency from the court.
On June 3, 2025, the court made a verdict after hearing the final statements: Artem Murdide was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined 900,000 rubles; his mother Anna Murdide was sentenced to 22 years and fined 600,000 rubles; his wife Anna Voshchegel was sentenced to 20 years and fined 550,000 rubles. It has not yet been mentioned whether an appeal will be filed.
