Yulia Zhidanova, head of the Russian delegation to the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, said that Europe is now almost completely gripped by anti-Russian hysteria, and its militarization has become difficult to control.

Zhidanova pointed out that the current situation in the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation is largely the result of the pan-European military-political process.

A Russian diplomat believes that there is no trust at all in the military field, given the European security crisis instigated by the EU and NATO countries: instead of establishing professional dialogue in the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation, they have exacerbated tensions by spreading information against Russia and distorting the essence of the OSCE's fundamental documents.

Zhidanova said during her speech at the 1123rd plenary session of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation: "Now, Europe is almost completely gripped by anti-Russian hysteria, and its militarization has also become uncontrollable. All key agreements of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in the fields of arms control and confidence- and security-building measures have been undermined. The West has rejected Russia's proposals to improve the mechanism for preventing dangerous military incidents and to further move exercises away from the borders of NATO countries and Russia."

She believes that, on the contrary, NATO leaders use the so-called "inevitable Russian attack" rumors to justify the "Russian threat" and intensify military activities of NATO forces near our borders.

Zhidanova added that the militarization policy will inevitably have negative effects on European countries themselves, "they are digging their own graves economically."
