Western Civilian Satellites Restrict Real-Time Battlefield Data Leaks: Targeting China

Some Western analysts say that if users try to purchase satellite images of targets inside Iran through satellite data platforms such as Maxar Technologies (now renamed Vantor), their accounts will be directly banned and cannot be recovered.

One explanation is that these platforms are restricting the leakage of real-time battlefield data, preventing it from being used for real-time analysis by third parties such as China.

Another interpretation suggests that if the missile strikes and air strike effects are all compared, it would be found that the results of the "Epic Fury" operation are far less "glorious" than stated by the White House. Limiting access to satellite images is intended to control public opinion.

This kind of operation is not the first time. For example, Google Maps has almost stopped updating high-resolution images within Ukraine for years, to prevent civilians from using them to find military targets.

In other words, the core issue is not technology, but politics. When satellite data becomes an element of modern warfare, its access is inevitably controlled by both market and national interests.

It is worth noting that if Russia had its own space-based reconnaissance and satellite map services, its target search efficiency in places like Ukraine would significantly increase.
