Foreign media: Chinese shipbuilders have recently secured a string of new orders, confirming the effectiveness of Beijing's push to transform industries toward higher value-added segments.

Hengli Heavy Industry signed contracts for six ultra-large ammonia carriers (VLACs) within a week with three international shipowners; among them, four are 93,000 cubic meters in capacity and two are 88,000 cubic meters. The company had just delivered the world’s first 93,000-cubic-meter VLAC built on the slipway (not in a dry dock) in June, establishing a differentiated competitive edge through advantages in construction time and cost.

On the same day, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding secured an order for 10 bulk carriers with a deadweight tonnage of 210,000 tons from COSCO Shipping Development, valued at 5.28 billion RMB; Nantong Xiangyu Ship Engineering also received a contract for five similar vessels worth 2.64 billion RMB.

These orders demonstrate that Chinese shipyards are expanding simultaneously in both high-end gas carrier and traditional vessel segments, further consolidating their dominant position in global shipbuilding.
