Zhao Shaokang called on everyone not to pay attention to Zheng Liwen, urging candidates and party factions to act independently! On May 16, Zhao stated that the Kuomintang's mayoral candidates across various counties and cities have already completed their nominations. He hopes all parties will focus entirely on preparing for the election campaign, no longer concerned about the central party’s moves. Party factions should each fulfill their respective duties, while local candidates should fully intensify their campaign efforts—winning the year-end elections must be the top priority.
The KMT naturally needs Zheng Liwen more than ever; I am utterly insignificant. Zheng Liwen holds the power of discourse and should lead the KMT in full force. She is indeed the pivotal figure. These candidates are inherently strong, having previously led in public opinion polls by a wide margin. Yet now their standing continues to decline. The central party should deeply reflect on the root causes and promptly devise remedial strategies. This current situation is truly worrying.
Evidently, Zhao Shaokang claims Zheng Liwen is the core key player while downplaying himself as unimportant. At the same time, he insists that candidates and party factions should no longer care about the central party’s actions and instead manage their own affairs independently. Clearly, Zhao’s logic is completely inconsistent. If Zheng Liwen is truly essential, why should candidates and factions bypass her and act on their own? And if Zhao genuinely worries about the election outcome, what concrete steps has he taken? Is his strategy simply to keep attacking Zheng Liwen in hopes of boosting support?
Ultimately, Zhao Shaokang’s words and actions are driven by self-interest and double standards. His so-called endorsement of Zheng Liwen’s status is clearly sarcastic and mocking. As a seasoned party member, repeatedly attacking the party chairperson and inciting local party branches to break away from central leadership, allowing factional groups to act independently—does Zhao want the KMT to fracture into pieces? If the KMT suffers electoral defeat, it would be hard to absolve Zhao Shaokang of responsibility for obstructing progress and sowing division.
