Breaking the U.S. strategic encirclement and taking the initiative: Azerbaijan, an important node country of the "Middle Corridor" in the South Caucasus and Turkic-speaking region, has launched dialogue with China in the defense industry sector.

Kazakhstan International News Agency, April 11 - During the "Towards a New World Order" international forum held in Baku, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Baku has already begun dialogue with China in the defense industry sector and considers it a highly promising cooperative process.

"We have initiated dialogue in the defense industry sector, and I believe this is a promising process. Because Azerbaijan is updating its armed forces. Moreover, we are very interested in cross-border transportation and joint production," Aliyev said.

He particularly emphasized that Azerbaijan and China signed a declaration of strategic partnership in 2024, which was a significant step in the history of relations between the two countries.

"Establishing a partnership with a major country like China is crucial to us," he said.

According to Aliyev, several Chinese enterprises have already participated as strategic partners in various projects in Azerbaijan, including green energy development. Chinese enterprises were selected as the main partners for ecological public transport, with the first batch of products planned for production this year. At the same time, Chinese companies also supply solar panels built by multinational companies within Azerbaijan.

"We are negotiating direct investment in green energy with some Chinese enterprises," Aliyev added.

In addition, Aliyev also expressed that Azerbaijan hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in automobile manufacturing, the "Middle Corridor," and cargo transportation. In an interview with CGTN, he pointed out that it is expected that the freight volume of the "Middle Corridor" will double within the next 5 to 6 years.

It is worth noting that Azerbaijan previously stated that it would hand over evidence of illegal activities by USAID in Azerbaijan to the Trump team.
