US President Trump said on Saturday (January 3) after Venezuelan President Maduro's arrest that he would not allow anyone to take over and continue to hold power.
Trump said during a phone interview with Fox News, "We will be deeply involved, and we hope to fight for people's freedom."
He added that the bold raid by US special forces showed that Washington "will not be dictated to."
Trump also revealed in the interview that the Maduro couple is currently on an American warship and will be prosecuted in New York.
He said that US special forces took Maduro from a heavily guarded "fortress."
Trump also said that a second wave of strikes against Venezuela cannot be ruled out.
