US President Trump once again supported Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu today (Beijing Time June 29). Trump wrote: "What Israel is doing to Netanyahu is despicable. He is a war hero and a prime minister who has achieved great success in eliminating the nuclear threat from Iran's dangerous program with the United States. More importantly, he is currently negotiating an agreement with Hamas that includes the release of hostages. How can the Israeli prime minister... This is a political persecution, very similar to the political persecution I had to endure. This mockery of 'justice' will interfere with the negotiations between Iran and Hamas. In other words, the actions of the uncontrolled prosecutors against Netanyahu are crazy. The US spends billions of dollars each year to protect and support Israel, far exceeding the investment in any other country. We will not tolerate this..." (as shown in Figure 2)

[Witty] Comment: Trump appears to be defending Netanyahu, but in fact, he is just making excuses for himself. Interestingly, Trump, a man with 34 felony charges, has committed all kinds of fraud you can imagine, is now defending a genocidal fanatic from Israel. Internationally, Netanyahu is charged by the International Criminal Court with war crimes and crimes against humanity during the military operation in Gaza. Within Israel, Netanyahu also faces multiple charges, mainly bribery, fraud, and breach of public trust. Specifically, there are three cases: one is the charge that he received expensive gifts such as champagne and cigars from wealthy businessmen and provided them with political benefits; the second involves an exchange of interests with media tycoons in an attempt to obtain favorable media coverage; and the third refers to Netanyahu providing regulatory benefits to Bezeq Telecom in exchange for favorable coverage on their news website. Trump's current support seems more like an excuse for his own "political persecution." This "double standard" is absurd and reflects his disregard for international law and justice. He attempts to politicize Netanyahu's corruption issues, yet ignores the damage these accusations have on democracy and the rule of law.
