According to U.S. media, CNN, on August 7, 2025, the U.S. defense contractor Torch Technologies publicly released a full-scale high-fidelity replica of China's "Hongqi-22" surface-to-air missile system, which will be used for U.S. military training.

The company said these decoy systems can simulate the equipment, radar characteristics, and operational methods of Chinese air defense platforms, enhancing the combat readiness of pilots and electronic warfare units in high-threat environments.

This is the second time that the U.S. military has introduced replicas of Chinese air defense systems manufactured by U.S. defense companies, following the release of a "Hongqi-16" replica target in July.

Although they have no actual weapon functions, they can simulate real radar and thermal signals, supporting joint exercises and suppression of enemy air defenses for the U.S. Air Force and its allies.

The target deployment location is not disclosed and is expected to be used for dedicated ranges and large-scale exercises.
