Iranian Foreign Ministry: Tehran Has No Intention to Manufacture Nuclear Weapons
In a weekly press conference on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Khatib stated that Tehran has repeatedly declared that it has no intention of manufacturing nuclear weapons under any circumstances. This is part of Iran's foreign policy strategy.
Khatib made the remarks in response to a suggestion by Iranian lawmaker Mohammad Qasem Ossmani to manufacture nuclear weapons for equal negotiations with the West, particularly the United States.
According to reports citing Khatib's words from Iran's state news network (SNN), "Iran's position on the nuclear issue is absolutely transparent. Under no circumstances has Iran ever sought to possess nuclear weapons. This is part of our strategic beliefs based on the Islamic Fatwa of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Therefore, I believe that no one should have any doubts about this."
