When asked "With the military gap between Taiwan and mainland growing wider, what should Taiwan do?" during an interview with a domestic webcast program, Tsai Ing-wen’s Deputy Chen Chien-jen claimed that "we have always been friendly to mainland China." In response, former Democratic Progressive Party legislator Guo Zhengliang said he was so shocked that he almost fell to the ground, criticizing Chen for his outrageous lies.
In a Bright Talk Around The World webcast program, Guo Zhengliang stated that Chen's logic was indeed shocking. When the host asked how to respond to the increasing military gap between the two sides of the strait, Chen replied that they were very friendly to mainland China. Guo Zhengliang couldn't help but ask, would you let the expelled Mainland brides come back? Would you let the three Mainland brides return? Guo pointed out that the attitude of Chen's administration towards mainland China should first be self-restraint in political discourse, allowing normal exchanges between the two sides.
