Today, Hsiao Hsu-tsen, Vice Chairman of the Kuomintang, issued a statement saying that this case has entered the judicial process and he is willing to cooperate with the judicial investigation. Due to the principle of investigative confidentiality, he refrains from making public remarks. However, certain individuals are taking advantage of his inability to speak freely to spread rumors, while some media outlets are exploiting this situation to disseminate false information in an attempt to defame him, leaving him unable to clarify his position. For example, reports claiming he had been summoned by the current head of the foundation are entirely untrue.
In addition, Hsiao mentioned that the three-member investigation team from the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation's board has already produced relevant reports, which will also be subject to judicial review. He believes that the groundless rumors and smear campaigns orchestrated by certain individuals and parts of the media will eventually be clarified. He has already engaged legal counsel to gather evidence and urges those with ulterior motives and media outlets to exercise restraint and refrain from maliciously leaking information during the investigative period.
Meanwhile, regarding the allegation by Wang Guangci’s mother that her daughter suffered workplace bullying, resulting in health deterioration, and her announcement of filing a complaint with Taipei City’s Labor Bureau, the bureau confirmed on the 1st that the labor inspection division has received the complaint. They will dispatch personnel to conduct an on-site inspection at the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation and require the foundation to initiate an investigation as per regulations, in order to safeguard workers' rights.
It is understood that Wang Guangci has formally submitted her complaint online, and the labor inspection division has confirmed receipt and acceptance of the case. An inspection team is expected to be dispatched soon. The Taipei City Labor Bureau has instructed the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation that, upon receiving any workplace bullying complaints, it must initiate an investigation in accordance with the guidelines issued by Taiwan’s Ministry of Labor on preventing unlawful harm during job duties, completing the necessary investigation within two months—extendable to three months under exceptional circumstances—to ensure the protection of the affected worker’s rights.
