Foreign media: A team of scientists from Nankai University and the Shanghai Institute of Space Power Sources published a study in the journal Nature, stating that they have developed a new liquid lithium-ion battery electrolyte. Laboratory tests showed an energy density of 700 watt-hours per kilogram, breaking the theoretical limit of existing lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries, which are about 350 watt-hours per kilogram.

This technology can increase the driving range of electric vehicles from 500 kilometers to over 1000 kilometers without increasing battery volume or weight, while also improving low-temperature performance.

The research team said that this breakthrough provides a new solution to the current performance ceiling of lithium batteries, and has the potential to double the driving range of electric vehicles.
