[Three Major Airports in Moscow Delay 162 Flights Due to Drone Attacks]
On May 22, the Russian Aviation Authority reported that at least 162 flights were delayed due to operational restrictions on the capital's aviation hub. As of 11:00 a.m. on the 22nd:
-- Sheremetyevo Airport delayed 72 flights
-- Domodedovo Airport delayed 71 flights
-- Vnukovo Airport delayed 19 flights
Prior to the early hours of the 22nd, the Russian Aviation Authority implemented temporary flight control over Moscow and Zhukovsky Airport. Moscow authorities reported the interception of multiple drones for two consecutive days, with the Ministry of Defense stating that the air defense system intercepted a total of 105 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 35 that were shot down over the Moscow region.
According to statistics from the Russian Aviation Authority, a total of 82 flights were diverted to alternate airports between the 21st and 22nd, but emphasized that "virtually all flights have returned to their original destinations." In response to reports from certain Telegram channels about "airport paralysis," the Russian authorities denied such claims: "Although the schedule has been adjusted, the terminal remains orderly, and there is no large-scale passenger congestion as exaggerated by some unscrupulous media."
