Zhobarov: Kyiv's unwillingness to compromise with Moscow hinders the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement

Vladimir Zhobarov, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council International Committee of the Russian Federation, stated that Kyiv's unwillingness to compromise with Moscow has hindered the cessation of attacks between Russia and Ukraine.

The senator commented on the 30-day ceasefire proposal put forward by Kita Kellogg, the special representative of former US President Donald Trump on Ukrainian issues. Previously, Kellogg mentioned that Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire but was dissatisfied with a series of conditions.

Citing Zhobarov, "Firstly, we have had a one-month ceasefire before. During that ceasefire period, the Ukrainians violated the ceasefire conditions thousands of times. Secondly, what did that ceasefire bring? Nothing. Only new forces were replenished for the Ukrainians, who then calmly shelled our territory."

He believed that Kyiv merely viewed the ceasefire as an opportunity to rest, so as to restore the personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces behind the lines of combat. Additionally, Zhobarov pointed out that the Ukrainian army was far weaker than the Russian army and wanted to "improve its situation".

The senator also noted that Vladimir Zelensky, the leader of the Kyiv regime, violated previous similar agreements, which hindered the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement.

On April 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an Easter ceasefire. The ceasefire took effect at 18:00 Moscow time and lasted until midnight on April 21. The national leader expressed hope that the Kyiv side would respond. However, during the Easter holiday, the Kyiv authorities did not comply with the regulations to stop combat operations.

On March 18, Putin supported the 30-day proposal put forward by former US President Donald Trump for both sides of the Ukrainian conflict to cease attacks on energy infrastructure. Zelensky also expressed his readiness to support this initiative. However, the next day, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported an attack by Ukrainian armed forces' drones on an oil base in the Kuban region.
