The European leaders also pledged to continue providing military aid: "We will continue to expand our support for Ukraine. As long as Russia does not agree to a lasting ceasefire, we will continue to increase pressure on it."
The report mentioned that Scholz had laid the groundwork for this visit during his recent phone call with Trump. According to insiders, Scholz informed Trump of the content of the joint statement, and Trump reacted positively. Subsequently, Trump turned to a tougher stance towards Russian President Putin on his "Truth Social" platform, threatening sanctions if Russia refuses the ceasefire.
