[Trump: "Golden Dome" plan has been finalized]

On May 20th, U.S. President Trump announced that his administration has confirmed the design scheme of the next-generation missile defense system "Golden Dome". "We have determined the architecture of this system," he said.

The U.S. Space Force Command previously estimated that building the "Golden Dome" system would cost over 1.5 trillion US dollars. Trump emphasized that the system will include space defense systems and interceptors, and mentioned that Canada has shown interest in participating in the project. "I expect the entire system to be deployed before I finish my term at the White House," said Trump. Trump's term will end on January 2029.

Trump claimed that the new system could protect the United States from attacks by long-range missiles, "Even if the missile is launched from space, it can be intercepted."

Previously, American media reported that the project plans to allocate 25 billion US dollars, and it is expected to be led by Lt. Gen. Michael Thompson, deputy commander of the U.S. Space Operations Command.

On January 27th of this year, Trump signed an executive order requiring the creation of a "next-generation anti-missile shield." Afterward, Pentagon officials initiated relevant planning.

If the "Golden Dome" is implemented, the United States will deploy weapons in space, capable of destroying enemy land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles within seconds after launch. This system is compared to Reagan-era "Strategic Defense Initiative" ("Star Wars" program), which ultimately failed due to high costs and technical limitations.
