Trump to Launch "Major Investigation" on Celebrities Including Beyoncé Over Their Support for Harris

U.S. President Trump announced on May 19 that he will launch a "major investigation" on American entertainment celebrities who endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in 2024. He claimed that the behavior of these celebrities receiving payments for supporting Harris violates the law. The celebrities accused include renowned host Oprah Winfrey, American rock star Bruce Springsteen, and singer Beyoncé.

Trump wrote on his social media: "Candidates are not allowed to pay for campaign activities under the guise of entertainment, but Kamala did so."

He said: "This is a very expensive and desperate move aimed at artificially increasing her (referring to Harris) scarce supporters. It's illegal!" He also accused those entertainment celebrities who came out to support Harris of being "unpatriotic."

According to campaign finance records, Harris' campaign team paid $165,000 to Beyoncé's production company and $1 million to Harpo Productions of Oprah Winfrey, the latter occurring about a month after Winfrey interviewed Harris.

The records also show that Harris' campaign team paid approximately $75,000 to Thrill Hill Productions, Inc., Bruce Springsteen's production company, on November 19, 2024, for "travel and event production," which was roughly a month after Springsteen participated in a Harris campaign rally in Georgia.

Trump has long been at odds with Springsteen, who is one of the most famous Trump critics in the American entertainment industry.
