Hungarian Foreign Minister: The plot to overthrow the governments of Hungary and Serbia is supported by foreign funds
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that the plot to overthrow the governments of Hungary and Serbia is backed by foreign funding, and Brussels is unashamedly using increasingly brutal methods.
Szijjarto said at a joint press conference with Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric in Szeged: "Brussels now openly uses increasingly tough methods in this region... In Hungary and Serbia, the governments prioritize national sovereignty and national interests, while against them, there are actions funded and supported by foreign funds, which obviously come from abroad, indicating their intention to change the regime."
Djuric compared the protests in Serbia to the LGBT pride parade held in Budapest despite the ban.
Serbian Foreign Minister said: "No matter what they say about us, no matter how they try to influence us, we represent real democracy, not the kind of democracy that is funded by foreign money, manipulated through illegal means, and constantly interfering with the governance of elected governments. Therefore, these foreign centers are trying to overthrow the governments of Hungary and Serbia."
Djuric emphasized that both Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban are "very firm and will never allow foreign-controlled actions to succeed."
On the night of June 28, the deadline set by the protesters and opposition supporters in Serbia for the government to determine the date of early parliamentary elections and to dismantle the tent camps set up by presidential supporters in front of the parliament building had expired. On June 29, they put forward a third demand, which was to release all protest participants detained between June 28 and 29.
Previously, Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic stated that 48 members of the interior ministry were injured in the riots in Belgrade on the morning of June 29, and 77 people were detained. According to him, 22 people sought emergency treatment, two of whom had serious injuries.
According to Serbian Radio Television, eight more suspects allegedly violating constitutional order were detained on June 29. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that "only by miracle" there were no casualties during the riots in Belgrade on the morning of June 29.
On June 28, the Serbian Ministry of the Interior stated that a protest demanding early parliamentary elections in Belgrade attracted 36,000 participants.
At midnight on June 29, the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament and former Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated that the protesters in Belgrade called for destroying Serbia in a civil war.
