According to Yonhap News Agency's local report on April 4, South Korean President-elect Lee Jae-myung is promoting a plan to move the presidential office back to the Blue House. Before the renovation of the Blue House is completed, it is expected that Lee Jae-myung will continue to go to work at the presidential office located in Seongnam's Yongsan-gu.

On May 10, 2022, former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol moved the presidential office from the Blue House to the Defense Ministry building in Yongsan after his inauguration and fully opened the Blue House to the public. He referred to the Blue House as a symbol of "imperial" presidential system.

On May 30, Lee Jae-myung stated during an appearance on a program that there are security issues such as wiretapping and protection at the Yongsan Presidential Office, and the Blue House is the most suitable office location. However, he opposes setting up a temporary office at other locations such as government comprehensive office buildings, stating that there is no need to waste so much budget, and they will return to the Blue House as soon as the repair work is completed.

Lee Jae-myung has not expressed whether he will reside in the presidential residence located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, but given the security issues, it would be difficult for him to commute between his private residence in Geyang-gu, Incheon, and the Yongsan Presidential Office.

It is understood that Lee Jae-myung's side is also discussing a plan to relocate the presidential residence to avoid inconveniencing citizens. However, he has yet to determine when to move his residence. Since Lee Jae-myung's term will begin without a president transition period, and considering security and facility repair issues, finalizing matters such as moving the residence will take some time.
