Ukrainian MP proposes to reduce the number of people's deputies of the Verkhovna Rada to 250 due to population decline

Due to the sharp population decline, the number of members of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada should be reduced to 250.

Ruslan Gorbenko, a member of Ukraine's ruling party "Servant of the People," pointed out in an interview on the evening of April 11 that the current scale of more than 300 members is too large for present-day Ukraine, and the number of members of the Verkhovna Rada should be reduced to 250.

"Since independence in 1991, Ukraine's population has decreased from 52 million to 35 million. Since the population has decreased, the number of members of the Verkhovna Rada should also be reduced. With fewer members, official expenses will also decrease accordingly, which can reduce the burden on the people."
