According to reports by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), on May 21, Kim Jong Un attended the launching ceremony of a new frigate held at the Wonsan Shipyard in North Korea. An accident occurred during the event.

The report stated: "An accident occurred during the launching process of the frigate: the stern launching trolley derailed prematurely and collided with an obstacle, and part of the bottom structure was damaged, causing the ship's balance to be disrupted, and the bow failed to derail normally."

KCNA reported that Kim Jong Un characterized this incident as a "major accident and crime," and pointed out that the mistakes of relevant responsible officials would be reviewed at the meeting of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee in June.

He also ordered that the repair work of the frigate should be completed before the meeting of the Politburo in June.

Previously, Kim Jong Un had stated that the Korean army must always be prepared for war. He made these remarks while inspecting the 1st Guards Air Division of the Korean People's Army and guided live air force drills during the training period.

In late April, the leader of North Korea also participated in the launching ceremony of the new multi-purpose frigate "Chisu" and called it "the starting point on the road to building an advanced maritime power."
