China and Russia conduct in-depth exchanges on issues such as countering the so-called "reciprocal tariff" imposed by the US.

According to the message from the Ministry of Commerce website, on May 8th, Minister Wang Wentao of the Ministry of Commerce met with Minister Maxim Reshetnikov of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development in Moscow. They had in-depth exchanges on issues such as implementing the upgraded China-Russia Investment Protection Agreement, strengthening economic and trade investment cooperation, and responding to the so-called "reciprocal tariffs" imposed by the US.

Wang Wentao stated that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between China and Russia in the new era continues to deepen, and economic and trade cooperation maintains a good development momentum. Both sides should fully leverage the role of the upgraded China-Russia Investment Promotion and Mutual Protection Agreement to provide a more transparent and fair investment and business environment for enterprises of the two countries, and continuously promote high-quality development of China-Russia economic and trade cooperation.

Wang Wentao emphasized that China firmly opposes the US abuse of so-called "reciprocal tariffs" and has taken resolute countermeasures. After a thorough and comprehensive assessment, China recently decided to agree to hold high-level economic and trade talks with the US. China's position remains consistent. China's determination to safeguard its own development interests will not change, nor will its stance and goals of defending international fairness and justice and maintaining the international economic and trade order.

Reshetnikov stated that China-Russia mutually beneficial cooperation is not targeted at any third party and is in line with the fundamental interests of both countries. In recent years, bilateral trade has remained resilient, and various sectoral cooperation projects have progressed smoothly.
